A $30 MILLION development may soon feature on a 1.3ha paddock bordering St John’s Anglican Church at Camden, with a multimillion-dollar offer recently tabled for the vacant land and church rectory.

Aged-care provider Moran Health Care Group has offered the church $7.7 million to for the Menangle Rd site with a view to building an aged-care facility.

It would house up to 120 residents and employ about 100 people.

Moran Health Care Group managing director Peter Moran said the vision was “in the very early stages of planning”.

“We are looking to put an aged-care facility on the site and possibly some retirement living as well,” Mr Moran said.

He emphasised his company “understands heritage and respects it”.

“If (the sale is) agreed to then we will work with the local community, the parishioners, community groups and Camden Council around respecting and working with the heritage constraints that may be the case in the St John’s heritage precinct,” Mr Moran said.

St John’s minister Rev Tony Galea said the sale, to be voted on by parishioners on Sunday, September 23, would pave the way for a multimillion-dollar worship centre.
