Public housing block renovated

New tenants move into freshly repaired units

A RARE public housing block in Mosman is now tenanted after it was vacant for almost a year because of a renovation and change in management.

The Mosman Daily reported in April last year that 2 Upper Spit Rd, then empty, had avoided a Millers Point style sell-off despite plans for a sale several years ago.

The 12-dwelling block, also known as Muston Court, is one of four Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) apartment complexes in Mosman. The four properties comprise of 70 one and two-bedroom units.

A FACS spokesman said tenants were allocated units at 2 Upper Spit Rd in mid-January.

“The management of the property was transferred to a registered community housing provider, Link Housing, the week before the units were allocated to tenants,” he said.

“There are 12 new tenants in the property and all of the units are now fully occupied.

“As part of its annual budget, FACS undertakes regular maintenance and upgrading programs to ensure properties remain at a safe and habitable standard... FACS has undertaken upgrades to the property, including painting and minor repairs.”

The spokesman declined to comment on whether FACS had plans to sell its other properties in Mosman.

The Daily understands that one of the other FACS properties is in Glover St.
