Women’s game on the rise

UTS North Sydney Cricket Club has employed former Australian cricketer Test star and double centurion Michelle Goszko as head coach to oversee the women’s program.

In 2018/19 the UTS North Sydney Bears entered an inaugural women’s side in the U18 Brewer Shield competition. This year the club hopes to include third grade and U15s sides.

President Rob Lavery said “we are on the cusp of the golden era of women’s sport. We have just seen a huge achievement by the Australian Women’s Cricket team winning the ashes … At UTS North Sydney we are passionate about women’s cricket … it is the way of the future.”

Commonwealth Bank research shows 53 per cent of Australians are tuning in to or attending a women’s sporting match and around 2.5 million watched the opening fixture of the T20 women’s league.
