TWO Artarmon brothers have been given the chance to chase their dreams.

Tom and Ralph Cockburn received scholarships from Link Housing to pursue their goals of becoming a writer and a professional footballer, respectively.

Ku-ring-gai High School student Tom, 16, hopes to become a famous author.

“Writing has always been a hobby of mine since I was little and I’ve gradually become more determined to make it my career,” he said.

“Writing stories is important to me because I can release all the ideas I have in my head on paper and it’s enjoyable to create characters and put them into stories.”

He plans to use his scholarship to fuel his next novel.

“My dad suggested the idea of an archaeological dig as I am doing ancient history at school and I thought it was a great idea to get out there to write too,” Tom said.

Ralph, 15, attends Turramurra High School and is the Year 10 soccer captain. He plans to use the scholarship to attend a football academy.

“I would love to improve my training to be at the best of my game and make a top rep team,” he said.
